It is a well know fact that tarts
are easy; a sure thing and none so more than the Bakewell Tart. The sugary little strumpet has been
pleasuring palettes since 1820.
My
somewhat lurid treat is a tribute to The
Crimson Petal and The White, Michael Faber's book which reveals the seamy
underbelly of Victorian London. Add
me to the list of people who appreciate Faber’s vividly-detailed writing! The
setting of this story is so well-described that, for a few nights, I actually
dreamt that I was in London’s streets in 1875.
Enjoy
but most of all be grateful that you weren't born a woman in Victorian London.
Serve with whatever delights take your fancy.
